Keegan & Pennykid launches cyber security programme for members of Social Enterprise Scotland

by | Jan 7, 2025

We are delighted to announce that Social Enterprise Scotland has partnered with Keegan & Pennykid and cyber insurance specialist Coalition, to help its members protect their organisations from cyber-attacks.

The partnership provides access to cyber risk management platform, Coalition Control, as well as offering education on cyber awareness and cyber insurance advisory services.

Social Enterprise Scotland members will be able to set up a Coalition Control account at no cost to their organisation and generate a comprehensive cyber risk assessment report that gives an instant real-time view of their cyber risk.

The platform allows users to view their digital risk the same way as a cyber-criminal does. It reveals vulnerabilities in external facing systems, prioritising the most critical, and shares recommendations for remediating them. Users benefit from a cyber security checklist, visibility into specific assets and domains that may have been compromised, personalised threat alerts and the ability to view the external-facing security profile of third parties.

Social Enterprise organisations are increasingly vulnerable to cyber-attacks. As the majority of them are classed as small, they are often targeted because they have less sophisticated security measures. 46% of cyber breaches occur against companies with less than 1,000 employees and even more worryingly – 60% of small businesses cease trading within 6 months of a cyber-attack.

Social Enterprise Scotland understands that smaller organisations may have fewer resources dedicated to cybersecurity and training, and that the cost of a cyber-attack could be crippling.

June Pennykid, Managing Director at Keegan & Pennykid, said

“Keegan & Pennykid has a long and fruitful association with Social Enterprise Scotland. As we have seen in recent years the threat of cyber-attacks to businesses is rapidly increasing and we want to best support social enterprise from this highly targeted form of criminality. It is a free to use service and we really hope that members of Social Enterprise Scotland will take advantage of this offer to better protect themselves and the communities they serve”.

Chris Martin, Chief Executive at Social Enterprise Scotland, said

“As the digital landscape evolves, so do the threats that social enterprises face. Our data shows us that many SMEs often lack the resources to address these challenges alone. Therefore, this partnership with Keegan & Pennykid and Coalition is a vital step in equipping our sector with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to stay resilient against cyber risks. By providing access to the dashboard and expert guidance, we aim to empower our members to protect their missions and safeguard the communities they serve.”
