How to reduce your costs with the VAT increase - through the Encompass Insurance Policy

Most charities cannot recover VAT.. When insuring buildings & equipment 17.5% has to be included in the sum insured (20% from 4/1/2011). Unlike most insurance policies, Keegan & Pennykid’s Encompass Policy for charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises, includes a VAT clause which provides cover for VAT whatever the level at no cost to the charity. This saves over 15% on the premium when VAT is 20%.

It also eliminates potential underinsurance if VAT has not been included in the sum insured.

Charity Insurance Raises One Million Pounds for the UK's Third Sector

We are delighted to announce that, as of 5th October 2009, Keegan & Pennykid has given one million pounds to the UK’s Third Sector as a result of our bespoke insurance policy for charities and voluntary organisations.

The Encompass policy, underwritten by Royal Sun Alliance (RSA), was developed by us 12 years ago, in conjunction with the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), the umbrella body for Charities in Scotland. The policy is endorsed by Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) and the London Voluntary Service Council (LVSC).

Encompass has been specifically designed to meet the individual insurance requirements of charities and voluntary organisations of all sizes. The policy provides an important source of income for SCVO, WCVA and LVSC and has now enabled us to give one million pounds to the Third Sector in the UK. Over £600,000 of this amount has been put back into Scotland’s Third Sector through the SCVO.

Ken Pennykid, Managing Director at Keegan & Pennykid said, “Reaching this landmark is a fantastic achievement. Not only have we given peace of mind by providing insurance cover to these charities, but we have also been able to put money back into the charity sector, allowing them to best serve the aims of their organisations.”
